We are looking for a dedicated, detail-oriented and results-driven Accountant to join our Finance Department. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, supporting financial reporting, ensuring tax compliance, and assisting with audits and inventory management.

Shema Power Lake Kivu Limited operates the K56 Methane Gas to Power Plant located in Rubavu District, Nyamyumba Sector, Busoro Cell, Kabushongo Village, Rwanda. The company focuses on converting methane gas from Lake Kivu into reliable electrical power, supporting national energy needs and regional development. As a growing player in Rwanda’s power sector, Shema Power Lake Kivu Limited offers opportunities for professionals interested in energy production, sustainability, and infrastructure. The organization maintains a strong on-site operational presence at the plant and conducts its activities from its base in Rubavu, with postal address P.O. Box 4826.


A. Key Responsibilities


. Accounts Payable Management


Monitor and process supplier invoices.

Verify invoices and supporting documentation before posting into the ERP system.

Prepare and process supplier payments in a timely manner.

Conduct supplier account reconciliations in collaboration with the Assistant Accountant.


. Account Reconciliations


Reconcile Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and General Ledger accounts.

Ensure accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of reconciliations.

Submit reconciliations for management review.


. Journal Entries & General Ledger


Assist in preparing and posting journal entries.

Record accruals for supplier invoices and other financial transactions.

Support month-end and year-end closing processes.


. Tax Compliance


Assist in the computation and preparation of monthly taxes.

Prepare and submit tax returns within statutory deadlines.

Ensure compliance with all tax regulations, reporting requirements and payment obligations.


. Audit Support


Participate in internal audit activities, including physical stock counts and compliance checks.

Provide required documentation and support during external audits.

Assist in implementing audit recommendations and corrective actions.


. Bookkeeping & Financial Operations


Manage day-to-day financial transactions and accounting records.

Process invoices and maintain accurate bookkeeping records.

Perform bank reconciliations and ensure ledger accuracy.

Reconcile Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable balances.


. Our customer Billing & Collections


Assist in the preparation of monthly customer bills.

Support accounts receivable collections and customer account reconciliations.


. Financial Reporting


Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.

Support the preparation of balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.

Contribute to financial analysis and reporting accuracy.


. Inventory Management


Participate in regular stock counts alongside the Stores Team and Senior Finance Manager.

Investigate and report inventory discrepancies.

Provide actionable recommendations to address stock variances.


. Other Duties


Perform any other accounting and finance-related duties as assigned.

Support departmental objectives and business requirements as needed.


B. Qualifications & Experience


Required Qualifications


Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.

CPA, ACCA, CIMA, or an equivalent professional accounting qualification (or active pursuit of such qualification) will be an added advantage.


C. Experience


3–5 years of practical accounting experience in a similar role.
