About the Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Assistant Accountant to join our finance team in Kigali. This is a fully office-based position, and the successful candidate will be required to work from the office on a daily basis.
The role will support the Finance Department across accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, reporting, budgeting, audits, inventory control, and month-end accounting activities.
Key Responsibilities
Accounts Payable (AP)
- Review and reconcile supplier accounts and AP ageing reports.
- Ensure outstanding supplier balances are accurate and supported.
- Reconcile intercompany balances.
- Prepare payment proposals for local and foreign suppliers.
- Assist with payment processing and approvals.
Accounts Receivable (AR)
- Review and reconcile AR ageing reports.
- Participate in debtor review meetings and follow up on action points.
- Perform daily sales reconciliations.
- Monitor outstanding receivables and support collection activities.
Financial Reporting & Reconciliations
- Assist with month-end and quarter-end closing activities.
- Prepare accounting journals and supporting schedules.
- Assist in the preparation of management accounts and financial reports.
- Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
- Reconcile intercompany transactions and balances.
- Ensure reporting deadlines are met accurately and on time.
Banking & Cash Management
- Perform bank reconciliations.
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies.
Fixed Assets
- Maintain and reconcile the fixed asset register.
- Prepare depreciation calculations and journal entries.
Inventory
- Participate in stock counts and inventory verification exercises.
- Reconcile inventory records and investigate variances.
- Assist with inventory accounting entries.
Audit & Compliance
- Support both internal and external audit processes.
- Prepare schedules and documentation requested by auditors.
- Follow up on audit recommendations and action plans.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and financial procedures.
Budgeting & Forecasting
- Assist with the preparation of annual budgets.
- Support periodic forecasting exercises.
- Assist with financial analysis and variance reporting.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in accounting, finance, or audit.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
- Experience with ERP/accounting software.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Strong analytical and reconciliation skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Professional, reliable, and capable of working independently.
Language Requirements (Mandatory)
Fluent English and French (spoken and written) are mandatory requirements for this position.
Candidates must be able to communicate professionally in both languages and prepare written correspondence and reports in English and French.

Additional Information
- This is a full-time, office-based role.
- Daily presence in the office is required.
- Only candidates currently residing in Rwanda and able to commute to the office on a daily basis will be considered.
Salary: RWF 500,000 – RWF 800,000 per month.
