Job descriptions & requirements

The role

BrighterMonday is East Africa's largest job platform, and we're building our community in Rwanda.

You'll be the voice of it. The person job seekers talk to when they need help. The person employers ask when they're getting started. The person who replies when someone comments on our posts.

We have two communities in Rwanda, and you'll build both. Job seekers looking for work, and employers looking for people. Your job is to make sure that everyone who comes to us finds a real person who is quick, useful and worth coming back to.

What you'll own

Community and communication

You are the front line across calls, email, WhatsApp and social, for both sides of the platform. Job seekers asking how to strengthen an application. Employers asking how to post a role or why they're not getting the candidates they expected. You answer well, you answer fast, and you resolve things at first contact wherever you can.

You'll also run recurring community touchpoints of your own design — a WhatsApp community, a newsletter, a monthly clinic. Your call on the format, and it may look different for employers than for job seekers. What matters is that people come back.

University onboarding

You'll bring Rwandan universities and TVETs onto the platform: setting them up, training their career services teams, and helping their students build profiles and start applying. This is where a lot of your impact will land, and it's the part of the job that gets you out from behind the screen.

Employer engagement

Helping employers get up and running, answering their questions, and getting our materials into their hands. You'll also support our partnership and commercial work in-market — the meetings that need a local presence, the follow-ups, the relationships that need someone nearby to keep them warm.

Events and webinars

Sessions for job seekers and employers, run end to end — scheduling, speakers, logistics, registration, reminders, live support and follow-up. We care about what people do afterwards, not how many logged in.

Records and insight

Every interaction in the CRM, complete and current. Once a month, a short note to us: what's working, what's blocking, what people keep asking for. You'll be closer to the Rwandan market than anyone else in the company, and we'll act on what you tell us.

Whatever the market needs

We're early in Rwanda. Some of what you'll do isn't on this list yet, and you'll be one of the people who works out what it should be.

Working remotely, across four markets

You won't be doing this alone. You'll have regular check-ins with the Group Head of Strategy, and our marketing, CX, product and matching teams sit across our other markets and work with you every week — briefing them, chasing what you need, and telling them the truth about what's happening on the ground. Most people don't get that kind of regional exposure until much later in their careers. You'll get it in your first month.

The role is remote and you'll be our person in Rwanda, so you'll need to be comfortable owning your own week and moving things forward under your own steam.

What you'll need

  • At least two years of experience, or a recent graduate who has visibly run something — a society, a business, a campaign
  • Fluent Kinyarwanda and English. French is an advantage
  • You're good online. You can write a reply that sounds like a person and still represents a company
  • You can switch register. On the same day you'll write to a second-year student and to an HR manager, and both should feel you were speaking to them
  • You're organised, you follow through, and you write things down
  • You know Kigali's universities and where young people actually are
  • Reliable internet and a working setup at home

What we offer

You'll report directly to our Group Head of Strategy, with real ownership of how our Rwandan community takes shape and direct exposure to how a four-market business is run. This is an unusual amount of scope for an early-career role, and we mean it — you'll be shaping something rather than maintaining it.
