Role Description The Maintenance Officer for farming is a full-time, on-site role based in Nyamata. This role is responsible for performing routine and corrective maintenance on farm equipment and facilities to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations across poultry farms and related infrastructure. Daily tasks include inspecting machinery and electrical systems, diagnosing faults, performing repairs, and coordinating with farm teams to schedule maintenance with minimal disruption. The Maintenance Officer monitors equipment performance, maintains accurate maintenance records, and supports implementation of preventive maintenance plans. The role also involves collaborating with supervisors and colleagues, communicating maintenance needs, and adhering to safety and biosecurity standards at all times.
Qualifications

  • Strong skills in Equipment Maintenance, Maintenance & Repair for agricultural and industrial farm machinery.
  • Practical experience in Corrective Maintenance, including troubleshooting mechanical issues and implementing timely repairs.
  • Effective Communication skills to coordinate with farm teams, report issues clearly, and follow instructions and procedures.
  • Experience in farm or agricultural environments, preferably poultry operations, with understanding of biosecurity and safety practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, maintenance schedules, and equipment specifications.
  • Good physical fitness and ability to work in a farm setting, including occasional weekend or shift work as operationally required.
  • Technical certificate or diploma in mechanics, electrical maintenance, or related field is an advantage; relevant work experience may substitute for formal qualifications.
