ECRL is seeking an individual to fill the role of Vice President, Investments, based in Rwanda, to manage and lead a team of analysts and associates underwriting and managing private credit investments. The VP will provide guidance and assign responsibilities as well as ensure the team's overall effectiveness in conducting deal analysis, cash flow modelling, due diligence, legal documentation, creating internal investment committee documents, and co-managing the portfolio with the Partners.
The team in Rwanda is small, working within a global team of over 60 committed professionals. The company prides itself on its positive culture, hands-on approach, and being a leader in DE&I – 90% of Enko’s employees are women & minorities.
The VP position is REQUIRED to be based in Rwanda. Enko will sponsor if necessary.
Primary Responsibilities
- Participate in weekly pipeline discussions to understand the origination of an opportunity and analyze the merits
- Establish on-ground relationships in Rwanda to originate new debt and equity investment opportunities
- Responsible for leading the team of analysts/associates
- Create detailed 3-statement financial models and a 5-year free cash flow forecasts
- Conduct financial due diligence by reviewing historical financial statements
- Oversee commercial due diligence (on the ground and desktop)
- Build and defend rationale for each transaction
- Draft high-quality investment memos with an ability to synthesize and concisely present information from a diverse range of sources
- Manage deliverables and engage with the borrower directly to receive timely and accurate information
- Assist the Partners in carrying out the responsibilities pertaining to the Investment Committee and Board meetings—preparation of information packs and responding to requests from the Committee/Board
- Conduct comprehensive qualitative and quantitative sector research and analysis
- Lead portfolio management and risk assessment—proactive risk management (PRM) discussions
- Lead and manage a team: supervising, setting goals, assigning, and reviewing submitted work.
Required Qualifications
- MBA / Advanced degree in finance/ CFA degree
- 7-10 years’ work experience
- Financial statement analysis and modeling experience
- Prior experience of working in M&A advisory, leverage finance, private debt, or private equity funds
- Interest in working with high-growth businesses, with an entrepreneurial mindset
- Investment exposure to Sub Saharan African markets
- Fluent in English
- Demonstrated problem solving, critical thinking and organizational skills
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal with ability to conduct professional discussions with internal and external stakeholders
- Collaboration skills and ability to work in a team
- Advanced Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills
