The Project
This is an opportunity to work on a state-of-the-art landmark project in Rwanda. Mace have been delivering PMC services on major aviation projects for several years, increasing passenger capacity and improving overall services
You’ll Be Responsible For

  • Lead contract administration across all major works packages, ensuring full compliance with NEC/FIDIC contract procedures including early warnings, compensation events, programme submissions, and payment.
  • Manage the monthly commercial cycle: review contractor applications for payment, assess valuations, and recommend certified amounts in coordination with the cost consultant.
  • Maintain the project Cost Value Report (CVR), forecast final account positions, and report commercial performance to the Project Board.
  • Identify, quantify, and manage commercial risks and opportunities; maintain the commercial risk register.
  • Review and assess contractor claims, variation requests, and extension of time submissions; provide robust commercial responses and recommendations.
  • Advise the Project Director on contract strategy, procurement decisions, and commercial exposures.
  • Manage the change control process from a commercial perspective, ensuring all changes are properly authorised, costed, and recorded.
  • Lead commercial negotiations with contractors at key milestones including interim settlements and final account agreement.
  • Mentor and manage junior commercial staff within the PMC team.
  • Provide commercial input into tender documents, bid evaluations, and contract award recommendations.

You’ll Need To Have

  • Minimum 15 years' commercial/contracts management experience on major capital projects, with experience of both design and build and traditional procurement routes.
  • Deep knowledge of NEC4 ECC and/or FIDIC Yellow/Red Book contract administration; able to administer complex contract mechanisms under pressure.
  • Strong quantity surveying background; degree in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management; MRICS or MCIOB preferred.
  • Experience in Sub-Saharan Africa or East Africa, particularly on internationally financed infrastructure projects, preferred.
  • Highly analytical with strong attention to detail; able to manage multiple contract workstreams simultaneously.
  • Confident negotiator and communicator; able to engage with contractors, clients, and DFIs.
