The Project
This is an opportunity to work on a state-of-the-art landmark project in Rwanda. Mace have been delivering PMC services on major aviation projects for several years, increasing passenger capacity and improving overall services
You’ll Be Responsible For

• Lead and coordinate the MEP design team through all RIBA/project stages from concept to IFC, ensuring outputs meet client brief, statutory requirements, and programme.
• Manage MEP design reviews, technical submittals, RFIs, and drawing approvals; maintain a live MEP design tracker.
• Provide technical assurance during construction that MEP contractor designs, installations, and testing comply with specifications and IFC drawings.
• Manage long-lead MEP equipment procurement in coordination with the commercial team; track delivery schedules against programme.
• Oversee MEP commissioning strategy and manage the commissioning process, including pre-commissioning, system flushing, testing, and witness testing by client/authorities.
• Interface with REG (Rwanda Energy Group), water utilities, and other statutory bodies for connections and approvals.
• Identify and manage MEP technical risks; raise early warnings where design or construction deviations may impact programme or cost.
• Contribute to value engineering exercises without compromising system performance or life-cycle cost.
• Manage the MEP handover package, including O&M manuals, as-built drawings, commissioning records, warranties, and training.
  

You’ll Need To Have

• Minimum 15 years' MEP project experience, with at least one international airport or major transport hub project at senior level.
• Strong design management capability across M, E, and P disciplines; ability to critically review MEP designs from specialist consultants.
• Chartered Engineer (CEng) status with CIBSE, IET, or equivalent; bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering.
• Experience of MEP delivery in Sub-Saharan Africa or East Africa preferred; familiarity with local utility connection processes an advantage.
• Commercially aware, with understanding of NEC or FIDIC contract administration.
• Strong leadership and communication skills; able to manage multi-discipline consultant and contractor teams.
