Senior Special Systems Manager

The Project
This is an opportunity to work on a state-of-the-art landmark project in Rwanda. Mace have been delivering PMC services on major aviation projects for several years, increasing passenger capacity and improving overall services
You’ll Be Responsible For

• Lead the technical management of all special systems packages from design through procurement, installation, integration, and commissioning.
• Review and approve special systems design submissions, shop drawings, and technical submittals against ICAO standards, client requirements, and project specifications.
• Manage interfaces between special systems contractors, MEP contractors, civil works teams, and the airport operator's IT/technology teams.
• Develop and oversee the special systems commissioning strategy, including FAT, SAT, and integrated systems testing (IST) programmes.
• Coordinate with the Rwandan Civil Aviation Authority (RCAA) and international aviation bodies on technology certification and regulatory approval.
• Maintain the special systems risk register and manage technical risks through to close-out.
• Provide technical input into contractor tender documents, bid evaluations, and contract award recommendations.
• Produce regular technical progress reports and flag deviations to the Project Director.
• Manage the handover of all special systems to the airport operator, including training, as-built documentation, and warranties.
  

You’ll Need To Have

• Minimum 15 years' experience in special systems management, with at least one major international airport project at a senior level.
• Deep technical knowledge of aviation systems: AGL, SCADA, BMS, FIDS, BCMS, BHS interfaces, and security systems.
• Familiarity with ICAO Annex standards, IATA AHM, and aviation technology certification processes.
• Strong programme management and interface management skills; able to hold multiple technical workstreams simultaneously.
• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, IT, or related discipline; chartered engineer status preferred.
• Fluency in English essential; experience in Sub-Saharan Africa advantageous.
