Job Summary:
The Store Clerk is responsible for supporting the day-to-day management of inventory, including daily consumables, packaging materials, spare parts, tools, and general items required for smooth operations in the poultry processing plant. The role will be under the Store Officer and assists with the receipt, proper storage, dispatch, and accurate record-keeping of all items, supporting uninterrupted production and compliance with hygiene, quality, and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in maintaining accurate records of stock levels
- Support regular physical stock checks and help reconcile with system records
- Monitor stock movements and report discrepancies or low stock levels promptly
- Assist in receiving incoming materials
- Help inspect deliveries for quantity, quality, and compliance with specifications
- Coordinate with the Quality Assurance team for inspection of sensitive items
- Ensure proper labelling, tagging, and categorization of stock
- Maintain a clean, organized, and pest-free store area
- Issue items to various departments based on approved requisitions
- Maintain proper documentation for every issuance
- Update stock reports daily
- Ensure proper storage conditions for temperature-sensitive or hazardous items
Qualifications:
- A Certificate or Diploma in Procurement, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Warehouse Management, or a related field is required.
- A Diploma or Bachelor's degree in the above fields is an added advantage.
- Minimum 2 year of experience in a similar role, preferably in a manufacturing or food processing environment.
- Experience with inventory systems or software is an advantage.
- Basic knowledge of stock control procedures, inventory accuracy, and storekeeping best practices.
- Familiarity with Food Safety and Hygiene Standards (especially for consumables and packaging materials).
- Basic knowledge of handling temperature-sensitive and hazardous items.
- Ability to assist in inspecting deliveries and verifying specifications, quality, and quantity of goods.
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other MS Office applications.
- Basic knowledge of inventory management software is an advantage.
Other Requirements:
- Good organizational and record-keeping skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and under pressure to meet deadlines.
- Good communication and coordination skills, especially when dealing with internal departments and suppliers.
- Physically fit and able to lift and move stock as needed.
- Willingness to work in a cold and regulated environment (if required by the store location within the plant)
