Technical Director

Role Description The Technical Director is a full-time, on-site role based in Kigali, responsible for overseeing the technical execution of architectural, construction, and investment projects. This role leads multidisciplinary teams, aligning technical standards, project workflows, and resource allocation with organizational objectives. Day-to-day responsibilities include supervising project planning and delivery, reviewing and validating technical designs and documentation, and ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory requirements. The Technical Director collaborates closely with senior leadership to support research and development initiatives, guide software and digital tool adoption, and optimize technical processes across design, construction, and hospitality projects. This position also involves mentoring technical staff, managing vendor and partner relationships, and providing strategic input on new investments and project opportunities.

Qualifications

• Strong Team Management and Team Leadership skills to guide multidisciplinary technical teams and support performance and professional development.
• Experience in Project Management, including planning, budgeting, scheduling, and risk management for construction, architecture, or hospitality-related projects.
• Background in Research and Development (R&D) to drive innovation in design methods, construction technologies, and operational processes.
• Familiarity with Software Development or technical software implementation, especially tools related to architecture, engineering, BIM, or project management.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related technical field.
• Demonstrated experience in senior technical or director-level roles within architecture, construction, real estate, or hospitality sectors.
• Knowledge of building codes, industry standards, and regulatory frameworks relevant to Rwanda and regional markets.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities, with attention to detail and quality.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders, including investors, clients, and technical teams.
• Fluency in English; proficiency in Kinyarwanda or French is an advantage.
