Trading & Settlements Officer
Job descriptions & requirements
Reports to: Managing Director
About Investa (by Button)
Investa (investa.rw) is Rwanda's mobile-first investing platform, giving retail investors direct access to buy and sell Rwanda Stock Exchange (RSE) securities. Investa is built by Button Ltd, admitted to the Capital Market Authority (CMA) Fintech Regulatory Sandbox in May 2026. We are growing Button Brokerage as our dedicated brokerage entity, currently progressing through CMA's licensing process. We're a small, early-stage team building capital markets infrastructure for Rwanda from the ground up.
The Role
We're looking for a Trading & Settlements Officer to own the operational core of our brokerage: executing client trades, settling them correctly and on time, keeping our broker relationships running smoothly. This is a hands-on, detail-critical role at the center of how Investa actually moves money and securities, not a support function. You'll be one of our first operational hires and will help shape how trading and settlement run as we scale.
Key Responsibilities
Trade Execution
- Execute client buy and sell orders for RSE-listed equities and bonds accurately and within required timeframes, in line with client instructions and appropriate regulations.
- Monitor order status and confirm executions with counterparty brokers and the RSE trading system.
Settlement & Reconciliation
- Reconcile trade and settlement records daily; investigate and resolve discrepancies promptly.
- Reconcile client accounts, deposits, and withdrawals tied to trading activity.
Broker & Market Liaison
- Serve as Button Brokerage's primary operational point of contact with partner brokers and counterparty trading desks
- Coordinate order routing, confirm trade details, and resolve day-to-day execution or settlement issues with broker counterparts
Regulatory Reporting & Compliance
- Prepare and submit periodic reports to the respective parties and authorities.
- Execute day-to-day AML/CFT/CPF monitoring per Button's compliance policy, transaction monitoring, screening, and escalation of suspicious activity
- Maintain trading, settlement, and client transaction records in line with CMA recordkeeping requirements
What You'll Need
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business, or a related field.
- 1 to 3+ years of experience in trading operations, treasury, bank operations, or capital markets/settlements.
- Strong attention to detail and comfort working with financial reconciliations under time pressure.
- Clear, professional communication with counterparty brokers and regulators.
- Proficiency with Excel/spreadsheets and comfort learning new trading systems.
Preferred
- Prior experience at a bank, broker-dealer, or capital markets institution in Rwanda or the region
- Familiarity with the Rwandan Stock Market, RSE and CMA regulations
- Having a CISI certificate is a plus. But in case you do not have it, Button Ltd will support with the cost to get it, should you be willing to complete it within your first year.
Compensation & What We Offer
- Salary: Competitive.
- A founding-team role with real ownership over how trading operations are built, not inherited processes
- Based at Norrsken House Kigali, inside Rwanda's startup ecosystem
