Youth Engagement Expert

The High Lands Centre of Leadership for Development (L4D) is looking for a Youth Engagement Expert to join the Mid-Term Review (MTR) of different programs commissioned by Mastercard Foundation.

This role is central to ensuring that the voices, perspectives, and lived experiences of young people are meaningfully embedded throughout the review process — from design and data collection to analysis, validation, and recommendations.

🔍 Key focus areas:

• Design and facilitate youth-centred and participatory data collection processes
• Ensure youth voices and lived experiences are reflected in MTR findings and recommendations
• Apply culturally responsive and age-appropriate engagement methods
• Support integration of youth perspectives into the analytical framework of the review
• Facilitate youth-led validation and sensemaking activities
• Contribute to youth-focused analysis and reporting

👤 We are looking for:

• Strong expertise in participatory youth engagement, youth development, or community-based research
• Experience facilitating qualitative and participatory research with young people
• Familiarity with storytelling approaches, community dialogues, and youth-centred methodologies
• At least 6 years of relevant experience in Sub-Saharan Africa
• Experience in Rwanda or East Africa is a strong asset
• Strong facilitation, safeguarding, and inclusive research design skills

🌍 Assignment details:

• Short-term consultancy (approx. 20–25 working days, May–September 2026)
• Primarily remote, with potential in-country travel for youth engagement activities
